Thyroid Disease
The thyroid gland is located in the central portion of the neck, just below the level of the voice box. The thyroid gland impacts the body’s metabolism through the production and release of thyroid hormone. Thyroid disease can be related to overproduction of thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism), underproduction of thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism), or abnormal growth within the gland itself (goiter, nodules, or even thyroid cancer). Many thyroid conditions can be managed with medications, but some require operative removal of a portion of the thyroid gland, or even the entire thyroid gland.
The surgeons of Loveland Surgical Associates provide consultation services regarding thyroid disease, needle biopsy (if necessary), and complete operative management of benign and malignant thyroid disease.
