Small Intestine
The small intestine is the primary organ of digestion in the body and extends from the stomach to the large intestine. Diseases of the small intestine are less common than diseases in other areas of the intestinal tract. Surgical management of small bowel disease ranges from release of scar tissue causing blockage (lysis of adhesions) to removal of benign or malignant growths.
The surgeons of Loveland Surgical Associates approach many small intestinal diseases through laparoscopy, but at times a traditional incision may be needed.
