Pancreatic Disease

Pancreatic Disease

The pancreas is a gland located behind the stomach and below the liver. The pancreas makes enzymes for digestion and produces hormones to help control glucose levels in the bloodstream. Diseases of the pancreas can be tumors (benign or malignant) or inflammatory changes known as pancreatitis. Non-operative management of these conditions is most commonly used, but at times an operation is necessary.

Most pancreatic surgery involves removal of a portion of the pancreas. There are different surgical procedures utilized depending upon the location of the disease. The Loveland Surgical Associates team of surgeons will gladly discuss your specific disease and your treatment options.
