Inguinal Hernia
The inguinal canal is located in the groin, just above the crease as the thigh joins the torso. This anatomical structure contains the blood supply to the testicle in males, and ligaments which support the uterus in females. With continued abdominal straining over time, weakening can develop and the muscle fibers in this region separate causing pain and often a bulge to form.
The surgeons of Loveland Surgical Associates offer both traditional and laparoscopic approaches to the repair of inguinal hernias. Typically, synthetic mesh is utilized in the repair to help minimize the risk of recurrence of the hernia.
