Surgery
Q: If I need to see a surgeon, how long will I have to wait for an appointment? A: The goal of Loveland Surgical Associates is to see each patient as soon as possible, within the patient’s scheduling needs. Most patients can be seen within one week of initial contact, but if circumstances necessitate being seen sooner, we will modify our schedule and make arrangements to see patients urgently.
Q: Will I be having surgery the day of my appointment with the doctor? A: Your first appointment is a consultation to determine if surgery is needed. Unless it's an emergency, you will typically not have surgery the same day.
Q: How long after my initial consultation will my surgery be? A: Our Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will work with you, the physician and the surgical facility to schedule your surgery as soon as possible, or on a specific date should you desire.
Q: Will the surgeon I see be the surgeon who performs my surgery? A: Yes. The surgeon you consult with will perform your procedure. Another surgeon from our office or another physician may act as an assist surgeon if necessary.
Q: How long after my surgery can I resume normal activity? A: This varies depending on the type of surgery performed, and your overall health. Please ask your surgeon about your specific recovery during your initial consultation.
Q: After my surgery, if I am having problems what do I do? A: Any time you are experiencing a life threatening emergency, call 911. In other instances, call the office first at 970-669-3212. During normal business hours, our office staff will assess your needs and contact your surgeon to address your need. After hours, we have one of our physicians on call at all times. Just call the office number, 970-669-3212, and you will be prompted on how to reach the on-call surgeon.
Insurance
Q: Why do I need a referral to you even if my insurance doesn't require one? A: A referral is not always needed, but often allows information regarding your surgical needs to be communicated to your surgeon and can save you time during your office consultation.
Q: Will I need pre-certification or pre-authorization from my insurance before a consultation or surgery? A: In most cases, the answer is yes. Our staff will coordinate with your insurance company to obtain all the necessary authorizations. At times, this will need to be done in conjunction with your primary care provider.
Q: Will I be charged for my visits after my surgery? A: In many instances, your insurance covers your post-op visits for a certain amount of time after surgery and co-pays are not collected at these visits.
Q: I don't have insurance. Will you still treat me? A: We do not turn patients away who do not have insurance. If you are unable to pay for your services as they are rendered, our Patient Accounting Department will work with you in setting up financial arrangements that are acceptable to both parties.
